If only life would flow smoothly
like the calm of a glassy sea.
There would be no reason to worry,
no burdens needing set free.
If only I could see the future
and the plan for what’s ahead.
I’d never need the Father
and could rely on myself instead.
If only I had some answers
when life takes twists and turns.
Please help me, Lord, to listen,
for your Word I must discern.
It’s easy to ask “Why me, Lord?”,
when I should ask, “Why not me?”
There’s a purpose in every struggle,
if only I would choose to see.
God’s vision has no limits,
for He can see the greater good.
Trials help me to show love to others
and reach out in support as I should.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
At times, our life can feel monotonous. We go through our day whether it be as a stay-at-home mom, at work or caring for loved ones in need, and wonder if we are making a difference in the lives of others. Are we following God’s plan and purpose for our life or just going through the motions and not stopping to seek His face and listen for direction?
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5
There’s something to be said for following a routine and feeling in control of our life. Sometimes things can be going along so smoothly that we start relying on ourselves instead of our Heavenly Father. Then, unexpectedly a crisis occurs that tests our faith. We wish we could have seen it coming, and question God as to why we are struggling. Trials teach us patience and help us grow spiritually. Having joy during a trial is often hard, but the Lord promises to walk with us at those times and always.
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:3-4
