Christmas is a season for giving.
Do we focus on things we receive?
Presents lie in glistening wrapping,
but there is one gift we do not see.
We get caught up in the holiday bustle,
spending money we have yet to earn.
We need to see through all the glitter
to be able to show love and concern.
Most of our gifts seem to be important,
something we can’t live without.
They bring us joy that is fleeting,
and we forget what Christmas is about.
God’s gift came in the form of a child,
a Savior for all humankind.
Christ came in all His glory
to be worshipped throughout all time.
The greatest gift that was ever given
was the gift of God’s only Son.
Don’t leave this gift unopened.
It is free to everyone.
For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
Christmas is not only a joyous time, but often a busy time as we make preparations for the holiday season. With all the media and advertising, it’s easy to get caught up in the decorations or buying the lastest gadget, toy or item that we think we or someone else can’t live without. Our budget goes out the window and regret can replace the happiness when credit card bills come after the holidays.
The gift of showing love by spending quality time with family and friends is so important during the holidays. It reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. Remembering the birth of Christ. Remembering His sacrifice and death on Calvary so that we could have forgiveness of our sins and everlasting life. Lets take time to reflect, celebrate and glorify Christ this Christmas. In the midst of our celebrations, let us not forget the greatest gift ever given – Christ Jesus. May we not leave this greatest gift unopened, and share Christ with others.
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
