When we give our heart to another,
we hope for love in return.
We must not be in a hurry,
for true love is hard to discern.
We focus on each other,
making plans to move ahead.
Are we blinded by our passion,
or do we seek God’s Word instead?
How can we plan our future
and not invite God’s Son?
We cannot receive His blessings
if we leave behind the Holy One.
Let us put no one above Him,
for He deserves to be our first love.
If we obey and ask for wisdom,
it will rain down on us from above.
The pain of lost love still haunts us,
but God wants us to let go of the past.
He will give us a new beginning,
so true love can come at last.
You must worship no other gods, for the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his relationship with you. Exodus 34:14
To love and be loved is a wonderful feeling. We can have emotions such as joy, happiness and a desire to spend much of our time with that person. We hope our feelings are reciprocated by the one we love, and sometimes we put so much focus on that person, that we lose sight of God, our family and friends. The old adage “love is blind” may ring true, as we put that person on a pedestal.
Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts. 1 John 5:21
God wants us first and foremost to seek His face, read and be obedient to His word, and pray to know His will and purpose for our life. As we humbly come before Him, He will listen and will lead us even when we are uncertain of what our next step should be. It’s easy sometimes to forge ahead of God thinking we know what is best for us. Pursuing a love relationship outside of God’s will can often lead to much heartache. He always has our best interest in mind, if we will just be patient and seek His guidance. Even when we do experience a broken relationship and heartache, God will be there to help us through it. He will give us hope and a new beginning.
But forget all that – it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. Isaiah 43:18-19
